2007 Fish Out ScheduleFebruaryAmerican River: Thursday the 15th will be the date for this trip. The American River has some large Steel Head that primarily succumb to nymphing with eggs and nymph droppers. We will have a number of experienced members there to give you instructions on this technique. The River is a short hour drive to Sacramento. MarchTruckee River: The 2008 DFG Regulations are out and there is a new opening date for the recently designate special regs area of the Truckee area, March 1 ". Given that we have never been able to fish this area at this time I think a winter stream trip should be a fun experience. March 1" is a Thursday. The club will meet at the Longs parking lot in front of the Flower Garden Bakery at 8:00 AM and we can car pool up to the river details will be discussed at Feb. meeting. Lake Amador: March 21'' is the date for this trip. This lake is located near the town of Ione, east of Stockton at about 400 feet elevation. It is privately managed and there is a fee of $9.00 per car (2 persons). The good news is that it is full of large trout The lake is planted with a hybrid steelhead, rainbow and cut throat trout that get to be up to 5 lbs. You can fish this lake from the shore or use a flotation device. It takes about 2 hours to get to the lake and this time of year afternoon and evening fishing should be good so plan on bring lunch and staying late. There is a cafe on the lake that looks like it serves pretty good food if you would rather do that. AprilPyramid Lake: The date for this trip will be determined later based on weather and fishing conditions. This is the time of year that Pyramid fishes the best because the spawn is in full swing. John Kusanovich has volunteered to lead this trip. If this year is anything like last year you may want to consider using flotation devices here due the high lake level. East Walker River: The Walker River is another of the streams the DFG changed the regulations on this year. We can get over there prior to the general trout opener and fish it before the spring run off hits. We need someone who is familiar with this area to act as fish master. MayLWW Fish Out & BBQ: Saturday May 5: This the date for our annual trip hosted by Don Liijebiad to Lake Wildwood for some great Bass fishing and a BBQ. This year the association has limited the number of guests to 16 so we will do a raffle to determine who gets to attend. There will be a $5.00 charge per person due at the time the finale attendees are determined. Sacramento Valley Private Bass Ponds: Hogan Brown our speaker for May has guiding access to private waters in the Sacramento Valley. The area has a large private pond and nice accommodations. Details will be out in April. This outing will require a deposit at the time you sign up. JuneLake Davis Camp Out: The trip will be determined based on whether or not the DFG draws the lake down to poison for the Pike, more details to follow. Shad Trip: Depending on which river is fishing the best, we will do either the American River or the Lower Sacramento. JulyLake Almanor Camp Out: Due to the time sensitive Hex Hatch the dates for this trip will be determined later in the year. The trip in the past has been a great success with a good number of large rainbows being caught A flotation device is a must for this trip. This trip is always fun for the whole family as there are many non fishing activities in the area, as well as other great fishing locations. Little Grass Valley Reservoir. This is a lake that some of us tried for the first time last year, and it proved to be very successful. The lake can be fished from shore but the best luck was had by those with float tubes or pontoon boats. This is a good lake to receive still water fishing instruction on so the dub will have instructors there to work with you. AugustUC Davis Yuba River: The first of our two fish outs to the Yuba River is scheduled for Saturday August 18''. This great trip is led by Mike Connors. There will be a BBQ Lunch served, a $5.00 fee will be required upon the attendance finalization.. Due to new regulations this trip will be limited to 20 members. If more than that sign up we will do a drawing at the meeting prior to the trip. Family Picnic Fuller Lake: Our annual family picnic to Fuller Lake will be Saturday August 11th. Fuller is a lake that requires a flotation device, the club will provide some extra float tubes for those who do not have one. Food contributions will be discussed at the meeting prior to the trip. SeptemberEastern Sierra Trip: This is a great time of year to hit the east side of the Sierras. In the past we have don Crowley Lake, but there are all kinds of choices. We need someone to volunteer to put this trip together and lead it OctoberNorth Yuba River: Ralph Wood will lead our trip again this year to the North Yuba River. We will do another BBQ ($5.00 charge at time of sign up). Last year we had a great time and some great fishing, Ralph will set the dates for this latter in the year. Fall River: Mark Rockwell is still firming up the dates and accommodations for this trip. In the past we have always done the Fall in July, but the fishing has been so spotty we decided to do it later in the year. Mark will have details by the March meeting. You will need to decide on whether you are going on this trip right away as we have to get deposits in to hold our spot. NovemberFeather River Steel Head. This is a trip that has always drawn a good crowd, and no wonder, when you can hook large steelies this close to home everyone wants to go. I will lead this trip and will have more details as we get closer to November. DecemberUC Davis Yuba River: Again Mike Connor will host this trip on Saturday December 1st: The Steel Head should be starting to come in and the fishing is usually good. The river will have been closed since September and that means three months of inactivity should give us the opportunity to get some great fish. There will be a BBQ lunch for all to enjoy, $5.00 will be required at sign up. Again, this trip will be limited to 20 members. |
